The Bud
Rue Memorial Walk for Social Justice is the pride and joy
of the Upper Delaware Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Held every October, the
Walk affirms the UU principles of social justice, by raising funds for local
organizations which aid these causes. Since its inception in 1993, by community
activist and UDUUF charter member (you guessed it) Bud Rue, the Walk has raised
over $38,000. Last year alone, $4800 was distributed to support 8 local social
justice organizations. This year the following 4 charities will be supported:

Victims
Intervention Program (VIP)
), Honesdale, PA
Offers emergency assistance for battered and abused individuals and
attempts to resolve difficulties through legal and counseling channels.
Habitat for Humanity Honesdale,
PA & Harris, NY
Builds homes with low income families. Offers no interest and no
profit mortgage while home-owners-to-
be put in "sweat equity" by helping with construction, and
organizational tasks.
Rape Intervention Service
& Education (RISE)
, Monticello, NY
Offers assistance to victims of sexual assault, including
listening, counseling and facilitating medical and legal services.
